The crib Folignano Castle was built under the altar to highlight the link between the historical reality of Christ's birth and relevance of his presence among men in the Eucharistic celebration. 
The crib was built on the ruins of the ancient Roman empire to indicate that the kingdoms of this world collapse and the Kingdom of Christ based on love, poverty and simplicity remains forever.
